A perfect 100

Archery requires good form, a calm mind and steady release, all within a repeatable shotprocess.

At 3D archery competitions many aspire to shoot a 10 out of 10 with only a few achieving this goal in reality.

Imagine adding the stress of trying to achieve this at a national competition in a shoot group of adults four to six times older than you.

This is the situation 11-year-old Chayce Van der Drift found himself in at Grafton. Chayce not only had to overcome nerves but also keep focused on the job of having to guess the distance and giving a clean release 10 times in a row all while walking several kilometers of bush terrain.

As the 10 ring scores started to add towards a perfect 100 Chayce not only retained his focus and form, but remained a true gentleman of the sport by providing support and encouragement to a fellow shoot group member who had equipment difficulties.

A true credit to the upbringing by his parents and support of his brothers. Chayce stayed true to his aim and achieved a perfect 101 "yes he actually got an 11" on one of the targets.

At the 3DAAA National Championships awards presentation Chayce received his 100 pin in front his proud family and fellow Port Stephens Archery club members. Well done champion.

Adding an 11 to the total

Congratulations

A champion amongst our shoot group.
